Mood: Pretty good, if tired (a little stressed)
Music: Contemporary Christian on Launchcast
Rants: Hmmm. Not much to rant about rather than the lack of time. We have gotten so much done in the last few weeks. This past weekend we went to visit relatives (some of our favorites) and Tracey Bateman. Very wonderful person. I felt so at home with her and her family. Our kids all holed up with their musical instrument while she and hubby practiced songs for the conference.
Spent some quality time with my husband's family. We had a wonderful breakfast and watched little bird eat. Hummingbirds, cardinals, woodpeckers, nuthatches, chickadees, finches. So beautiful. Had a nice visit. Dinner was wonderful and mouth watering thanks to Aunt BJ's skills. :0) We attended church with them and they took us to Mazio's pizza...YUM YUM especially the chocolate chip dessert pizza. And then we went to the fish hatchery and looked at the different stages of trout and saw fly fisherman cathing fish. There was a youth group meeting after the evening services (which was a singing emphasis) and then something to eat. I'm anxious to go back and visit again. :0)
We came back on Monday morning and went to work on the tree in the parking lot at the church building. We bid for the job and got it. Were we excited. It is conference money. But we barely got started before my hubby's family called wanting to help out. And they did. I took eight people eight and a half hours (ten people at one point, lol) to get it done. I think if they hadn't helped, if his dad hadn't showed up with a chainsaw and a helpful attitude, if his mom and Grandma hadn't prepared food and helped clean up leaves and sawdust....if they kids hadn't pitched in like they did....well, it wouldn't have gotten done in one day. I am tired and sore, but it is a good tired and sore.
Conference Prep: Well, it's down to the nitty gritty. We have some food packed, and I am working on the clothing end. Since we just took a short trip, I have to wash all that too. :0) But things are coming together. God will take care of it all. Need to polish some of my pitches, though, even though the agent and editor I wanted to talk to aren't going to be there except by the grace of God.
Writing progress: Well.....let's not even go there, shall we?
My God and I: As we get closer and more frantic and wondering how on earth we can pull this off, one word keeps whipsering through my mind. Abraham. God is wanting us to step out in faith. To trust Him to take care of us and to provide. So that is what we shall do. :0)
Still working on plotting and twists on Brandilyn's blog. Great stuff!
Reviews: It's a book this time. :0)
Second to None, Warrior Voices
by Barbara Ann Derksen
She has done a beautiful job of pulling the stories from these hero's into one place for easy access and a stimulating read. When I first got it, I made the mistake of leaving it on the bed and my hubby saw it. I spent and hour or two looking for it before I realized he must have snagged it and taken it to work with him. I had to explain that he could read it AFTER me. As a daughter of a Korea veteran I have to say this book is a must for every bookshelf. Gripping stories of the men who fought for our country and our freedom. It makes you want to get on your knees and thank God for these regular men who did extrordinary things for the sake of God, country and the American people. As a homeschooling mother, I can see it as a helpful learning tool too as it doesn't sugar coat anything, you get the unvarnished truth. Get it asap.
Well all, I am beat. I hope you have a wonderful night. Tomorrow I hope you have a blessed and godly day. Hugs!
Hi! I'm so excited to have a place where I can share some of my favorite things with you. There will be devotionals, writing articles, Book Reviews (some will be books sent to me for review, some will be books I purchased myself, but whichever way I get the books, I always post a true review), installments of the James Chronicles, and on occasion a Ramblin' post. Hope you enjoy and come back often.

Ramblings concerning Katrina
Mood: Hard to describe. Distressed over the devestation left behind in the wake of the hurricane. Excited about our trip and stressed over all that still has to be done.
Music: The music that is going to be played at the conference. :D
Rants: Mostly what is messing with me right now is the hurricane and how awful it all is. I have been crying for days. I am afraid to put up websites for relief because people have been taking advantage of this catastrophe. There are not words terrible enough to describe those who take advantage of another's pain to cause mischief or for their own gain. Be careful where you do donate that you are not scammed. Check charities with reliable sources and with FEMA. Or go through your church and donate or workplace as I plan to do. And if nothing else, PLEASE, PLEASE send up prayers ofsupplication to ease their suffering and for God to give them a sense of peace and yes one of joy also (joy is NOT an emotion by the way, but something that comes from God).
Now would be a good time to look at the little things you've been whining about (and me too) and see where that stands in the grand scheme of things. Be thankful for all that you have for I bet you, like I, are richly blessed.
Conference Prep: Actually I found some things that I needed to find. I wrote (from long hand) the beginning to one of my historicals. Actually Inspirational Historical Romantic Suspense. Clothes are washing as I speak, but of course they are for the present trip, not the conference, but I am feeling better about that trip as I know God is providing.
Writing Progress: Got some done yesterday, it just needs to be cleaned up and I dug around and found several of my historicals and thought them through a bit and even got some of the thoughts on paper, or kilobyte, lol. Got some pitches written. They need work, but they are something to work with.
My God and I: I don't have much here. No matter what happens, don't let anything rob you of your time with your Father every day. And believe me, the enemy will try everything in his power to get you to forgo it because he knows he cannot win unless you are cut off from the father.
Another thought I had was also about Katrina. They sent people out to evacuate the areas they thought the hurricane would hit. Alot of people went. Some couldn't and I heard they tried to make a way for those who had trouble. But my thought is some stayed behind and tried to tough it out. Some people died for it.
It reminds me of God trying to help us. He sends people to us to tell us what needs to be done and we either do it or can't or won't or think it won't be as bad as predicted. Sometimes the answer to our prayers is not what we expected or not as grand as we wanted.
If you have heard the Gospel message and have not responded yet. I urge you to search your heart and the scripture and please, please, do what it takes to become a child of God. We do not know how much time is ours, so please don't delay. God loves you and wants you as His child.
Hugs and blessings and prayers going up for all, but most especially the hurricane victims and their families.

Website happenings....
I put the names on exact same sheets of paper and tossed them in a bowl with a lid. Put the lid on and gave it a good shake and handed it to my oldest, who made sure all the paper pieces were exactly the same, lol, and gave it another good shake. Then I handed it to the youngest son and he shook it and handed it back. I told him to draw the first name and he was afraid people would hate him. I told him I would protect him. :D So the boys drew the names.
The drawing was held yesterday and we have our winners for August:
Reasonable Doubt by Tracey Bateman - Martha Rogers
Windigo Twilight by Colleen Rhoades - Dineen Miller
And the winners for September is:
Die Before Nightfall by Shirlee McCoy - Greg Williamson
Suspicion of Guilt by Tracey Bateman - Heather Tipton
Now there is a new contest. Since there are new rules everyone has to sign up again, but this time the sign up will be good until December.
Blessings.
