Yikes! Updates....

It's been a long time since I posted. I didn't even notice, the time has really flown.

It's almost conference time and previously I thought I wouldn't be able to go....now by the grace of God and the generosity of several people....look out Dallas...here I come! Yay!

Ahem. Okay, I'm sitting down again. :D

The last chaps of my book are being critted and the synopsis is being spit shined....I would like to have it in by my birthday this week, but would be just as happy to get it out of my hair by this weekend. I have an airshow to attend you understand and don't want this hanging over my head. You ever tried to type on an Alphie AND watch the Blue Angels? Neither have I and I don't want to try.

And I have a very special....very unusual gift to give away in honor of my birthday. (Okay, I know you are going to ask....I'm turning plenty-nine, okay? Happy?)

ATTENTION: An autographed copy of Violet Dawn by Brandilyn Collins.
Huh? Interesting eh? Would you like to own it?

Who what when why and how:

To be included in the drawing you must comment on this post. Tell me if you've ever been to a conference (yes or no) and if you have what you liked best. Even the no's are included in the drawing, it's just an easier ride for you. :D

Since I am busy wrapping up a book and packing for conference....I will let this run until September 25 ( a friend of mine's birthday, teehee, seeing a theme here?). I will draw the winner on the 26th in the morning and post it on this blog.
And if you can get someone to say you sent them here to sign up for the free book? I'll toss your name in there an extra time so you have more chance of winning. so lets see LOTS of comments.

Also go to http://kannerlake.blogspot.com to meet the characters of Violet Dawn. It's a really fun blog.

Have a blessed evening....and don't get too close. Don't want you to catch this nasty cold my family has. (Pray I'm well in time for conference.) Oh, and pray I find a dress I like to wear to the awards banquet since the one I had in mind....I just decided it didn't work when I put it on earlier today. Back to the closet. Sigh.

1. I've been to conference. THE Conference.

2. My favorite part was the people. I loved the networking. I loved hearing "send me the proposal" but what I love most was the friends I brought home with me.

3. Why don't you come over and try on some of my fancy dresses? I have several, and with the bun currently cooking in my oven I may not be able to wear any of them. That isn't an idle offer.

4. I have a copy of Violet Dawn. Give it to someone else. Though MY birthday IS on the 17th. It would stick with your theme!

Hey, Pammer! I've been to the ACFW conference, and what I loved was teh fellowship and networking. I especially liked that my crit partners were outside the rooms when I pitched, praying and trusting God for the best for me.

I've been to a very very small one-day conference in PA, and a small ACW conference in Buffalo.

I learned one important thing from the first: You must grab the reader in the first 50 words (eep). I completely revised my WIP's beginning after that.

I learned newer and better ways to deal with rejection after the 2nd *sigh* when an agent I really wanted to land gave comments, said he'd look at the rewrite, and then said no.

Pinch my skin. It's getting thicker. :-)

I've never been to a writer's conference. Would love to go. Been trying since 2001 but things keep coming up. Sept 11th (I lived in the NYC area then), birth of my middle son, relocation to FL, birth of my youngest son, return to work... Life has a way of taking over. I'm hopeful for next year.

Enjoy your conference time!
