NaNoWriMo

November is just around the corner!

Are you raring to go for the madness known as NaNoWriMo? Stands for National Novel Writing Month. You sign up, and for a month you write a 60,000 word novel with your internal editor bound and gagged, on a ship bound for the Bahamas or somewhere nice. (Guess I should clarify that you are NOT on the ship with her? The point is to get her out of your head so you can write freely, and badly if necessary.)

That's 1,667 words a day!

I am pondering joining in because I joined two years and things started happening and I never got past 30,000 words. BUT this year I would be more determined to get that nifty web badge and the pride of saying "I did it!".

I have a TON of ideas, plenty of stories that I have a loose framework for, but not a real idea of where it is going. Course I'll still need to get writing done on my current novel so I can get that puppy sent off to an agent.

Still I'm wavering because I've been called for Jury Duty and wonder if signing up is going to get me embroiled in a long drawn out case and get me sequestered for the month, LOL! That happens to us Jameses. Just ask any of our family members. :D

What do you guys think. Should I sign up or not?

Have a lovely evening.

Do it! I might myself. I need to get my current WIP finished as well. My hubby is also going to be gone most of the month. I may just set a daily goal for my WIP and say I can't do my NaNo until that's done. I may not make it, but it'll be fun to write something new. You know?

Pam, I came over to this blog via the link to "Whose Will" that you had on Terry's Clients -- just so you know that links do work and are fun to follow for curious folk like me!

Glad to get to know you. I also homeschooled, but only until high school, so I admire your pluck and determination. Loved the "Whose Will" article. Soooo true. Don't we just get ourselves in all sorts of trouble when we grab hold of those reins and say, "Come on, God!" Such lessons we often have to learn just so we'll let go...

As for NaNoWriMo, which is now over, I took Amy's challenge to me and managed to get the words down so that I'm at almost 100K for my next ms. I do hope that this is on the way to publication as a sequel to the one Terry has just started to send out. If not, I've got old floppies, hard disks, and CD storage disks chock full of words that may have made me a better writer...I hope! Anyway, it sure is a fun way to spend the time. If I'm not called to do it and have somehow taken those reins in my hands again, I'm using up huge chunks of time. And also meeting lots of great folk.
